aesend promo

After years of working with Aesend, a platform for the creation and distribution of video templates, Scene Factory came to me with a loose script and a challenge: how can we explain the core functionality of the platform in a short and exciting way, that could stay relevant as its features evolve? This meant focusing on benefits and use cases, not on specifics.

Once the script was mostly locked, I proposed a couple of different approaches to the visuals, in both 2D and 3D, to ensure the project would hit the right note and stay on budget. These were some of the storyboards created.

Although we initially intended to use real templates produced with the platform, that felt limiting, so we instead created mock-ups of what they could potentially look like, in a style that would look consistent across the board, and keep in line with the concept and aesthetic of the promo as a whole.

Putting it all together, the final piece was designed and animated in Cinema 4D, rendered in Redshift and had additional effects done in After Effects. As with every project, things change along the way and concepts get scrapped or improved along the way, which is why I strive for a workflow that allows for changing circumstances, as was the case with this piece.

I must say, I’m quite happy with this one.
